Weather-wise we've jumped from February rains to July heat in the space of a week. The hills behind me are turning brown - not the California golden that the tourist bureau insists upon. California may be a beautiful state, but this designation applies only to the reaches beyond suburbia, the smog-free period between late October and mid-April, and when there is enough water to keep everything green. I have the day off and I can't think of anything to do that I'd like to do. Like the browning hills, I don't thrive.
